Spanish media outlets are tearing into Antonio Cordero for choosing Newcastle United as his expected move inches closer.
As reported earlier this week, the 18-year-old is set to snub interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona to become the latest Magpies wonderkid. Youth investment has been a key priority at St James’ Park since the Saudi-backed takeover in October 2021.
The likes of Yankuba Minteh were poached from relative obscurity before being sold at a profit to help comply with PSR regulations. However, the main aim is to sign players who can eventually compete in Eddie Howe’s first team.
Cordero is understood to have visited Tyneside earlier this year before committing his long-term future to Newcastle. Despite Malaga struggling in La Liga 2, the youngster has 11 goal contributions and, although not yet officially announced, is set to join the Magpies when his contract expires in July.
